Representative Falzone's 9th Annual Holiday Party is a Great Success

Representative Mark Falzone held his 9th Annual Holiday Party at the Saugus Senior Center last Thursday, December 3rd, with over 150 seniors in attendance. The Saugus Federal Credit Union donated funds for the entertainment for the event, which allowed for all the seniors, staff, and volunteers to dance and sing along with the seasonal tunes performed by the lively Tony Barrie Orchestra. Salvy the Florist of Lynn provided the holiday poinsettias that adorned each table, adding to the festive atmosphere. Representative Falzone presided as emcee and also played favorite tunes on the piano while the seniors ate delicious desserts.

Joanne Olsen, Director of the Saugus Senior Center said, “We want to thank Representative Falzone once again for this Holiday Event. The seniors look forward to this festive occasion every year, and we appreciate all he has done for the Senior Center and the community of Saugus. Representative Falzone’s generosity in sponsoring a party is always a yearly event the seniors look forward to, and is a great way to kick off the Holiday Season.”

The dessert menu was ample with many choices. There were three beautifully decorated sheet cakes provided by Stop and Shop and dozens of cookies provided by Fuddruckers Restaurant. In addition, many gourmet flavors of ice cream were provided by Soc’s Ice Cream and two tasty choices of punch were provided by Shaw’s Supermarket. The seniors were very satisfied by the end of their meal.

The most anticipated event of the afternoon was the free drawing of door prizes. 40 prizes were given away, donated by generous businesses around town. Businesses that donated gifts include: Jimmy's Steer House, Spud's Restaurant and Pub, Kowloon Restaurant, Out of Asia, Hammersmith Inn, Midwest Grill, Border Café, Prince Pizza, Seaboard Products, Midwest Grill, Kelly's Roast Beef, Boscy's Liquors, and Amatos Liquors. Approximately one third of the seniors went home with a gift.

Representative Falzone emphasized, “This holiday party was a great success this year. The event could not have been made possible without the help of Joanne Olsen, Director of the Senior Center, and all the contributions and support from the local businesses. Working together, with the wonderful staff and volunteers of the Saugus Senior Center, we were able provide a festive occasion full of cheer and joy for the seniors throughout our community.”
