Representative Falzone Welcomes Juliana Catanzariti as New Intern From District

Intern Juliana CatanzaritiJuliana Catanzariti recently joined Representative Mark Falzone’s State House office as a summer intern. Juliana, who grew up in Saugus and graduated from Saugus High School in 2006, is a senior at Emmanuel College where she will receive a BA degree in Political Science and a minor certificate in Art History. She is planning on attending law school upon graduation and hopes to have a successful post-graduate career as an attorney.

“This has been a great experience for me.” says Juliana, “The staff in Representative Falzone’s office and throughout the State House are full of knowledge and experience and are always willing to teach you new things and help you along. In a few short months in the office I have learned more about the legislative process and the inner workings of politics than any secondhand experience could teach me, and I am privileged to have this opportunity.”

Juliana is in good company. As a State House intern, she is one of many other top high school, undergraduate and graduate students participating in the summer internship program. The program allows students to work in a professional office setting while simultaneously learning about legislative process. The office routine includes drafting testimony for bills, answering constituent concerns, researching laws and policies, writing press releases and organizing information. There is also a district canvassing project in the works, as part of the Representative’s effort to hear his constituents concerns. Throughout the summer various speakers and events also take place, where interns are awarded the opportunity to hear the relevant experiences of people in the State House and beyond.

Juliana plans to continue volunteering throughout the rest of the summer and is looking forward to beginning her final year as an undergraduate in the fall.
