Rep. Falzone Recieves High Marks from Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters

State Representative Mark Falzone is pleased to announce that Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters (MLEV) has released its 2009-2010 Legislative Scorecard which shows the Representative’s commitment to environmental protection, economic development and job creation through recycling and reuse, and public health. Representative Falzone received a score of 104% by voting in the interest of the environment 100% of the time and also filing and co-sponsoring key environmental proposals.

MLEV is a non-partisan organization which promotes the protection of the environment and the great natural resources in Massachusetts. According to MLEV, the legislative scorecard is released to show how “state legislators voted on key environmental issues during the past legislative session.”

Representative Falzone commented, “Protecting our environment and our public health always has and will continue to be a huge priority for me. I know that we need to maintain our natural resources for future generations, that many more good local jobs are created by the recycling and reuse industries than through incineration or landfills, and that our residents and their children deserve to breathe air and use products that are as safe as possible.”

In addition to supporting key victories for the Toxics Use Reduction Institute, which provides consulting and research for local small businesses, oil spill reduction, and many more, Representative Falzone also co-sponsored and testified in favor of key issues such as Electronic Waste Legislation.

Representative Falzone is the lead sponsor of a bill to codify the state’s regulatory moratorium on incinerator expansion into law and is categorically against the introduction of a third burner at the local RESCO facility. Additionally, he filed legislation on the recycling of mercury-added lamps to remove an exception granted in the Mercury Act of 2006.
